On the western side of the Clinch River, below Norris Dam, the trail loops a 3.2 mile path through old growth hardwood on the upper ridge and towering limestone bluffs on the riverbank path; rich pockets of wildflowers are scattered over the hillside, including several rare species; riverbank trail is easy but there are some steep grades on the climb to the ridge; deer and birds are plentiful and river otter can be seen frolicking in the shallow waters.
