Gifts of land & Easements
Gifts of Land
We work to enrich and enhance community health and livability by improving, preserving, maintaining and creating access to natural assets and recreational opportunities in Knox County and the East Tennessee region.
A donation of land helps us accomplish these goals while meeting the needs and wishes of landowners. There may be tax benefits associated with a donation of property to the Foundation.
Trail Easements
A trail easement is a legal agreement between Legacy Parks Foundation and a private landowner that permits construction of a public trail on private property in return for release from liability or maintenance of the trail. We secure and maintain trail easements with private landowners to facilitate trail development and trail connections with existing trails.
There may be tax benefits associated with a donation of a trail easement.
Conservation Easement
A conservation easement is a legally binding agreement that limits certain types of uses or prevents development from taking place on the land in perpetuity while the land remains in private hands.
Conservation easements protect land for future generations while allowing owners to retain many private property rights and to live on and use their land. There may be tax benefits associated with a conservation easement.
To discuss gifts of land or easements please contact Carol Evans at (865) 525-2585.
Planned giving
Through Planned Giving, you have the opportunity to leave a legacy. Your gift will play a strong role in ensuring our area’s extraordinary natural resources and exceptional recreational opportunities can be enjoyed by generations to come.
For more information on donor advised funds, bequests, trusts and planned gifts, contact Carol Evans at 865-525-2585.
