Legacy Parks and City of Knoxville Parks and Recreation were recently honored by the Tennessee Recreation and Parks Association for the “Four Star New Facility”: Baker Creek Preserve. The award was presented for the development of the popular outdoor destination for families and adventurers just three miles from downtown Knoxville, which Legacy Parks gave to the City in 2016.
Baker Creek Preserve has a unique set of attractions that appeal to novice explorers including convenient parking, a kid’s adventure play area with natural and interactive features, a kid’s bicycle pump track and loop, and easy multi-use trails, including one that connects to a middle school. For more experienced adventurers, Baker Creek hosts 5 multi-use trails and 3 downhill mountain bike trails, which range in difficulty and connect to 42 more miles of trail, making up Knoxville’s Urban Wilderness. The most advanced trail at Baker Creek Preserve, the Devil’s Racetrack, is the only double-black diamond downhill trail in the region and draws in expert riders with its intense gaps and drops.
We hope you’ll get out and play at Baker Creek Preserve and enjoy Knoxville’s award-winning facility!
