The International Day of Play is a global celebration of something truly powerful — play! It’s a reminder that play isn’t just about having fun — it’s a fundamental part of every child’s growth, learning, and well-being.
“Knox County Parks and Recreation is proud to partner with Legacy Parks Foundation to bring the Day of Play to our community,” said Joe Mack, Knox County Parks and Recreation Director. “Our parks are for everyone, and events like this encourage families and individuals of all ages and abilities to get outside, connect with nature, and experience the joy and benefits of active living.”
Play is essential in helping children develop social skills, build resilience, explore creativity, and gain confidence. Through play, kids learn to navigate relationships, tackle challenges, and discover who they are — all while preparing to thrive in a fast-changing world.
