The bluff itself is a 400-foot cliff that overlooks the French Broad River; 30 acres of mature upland hardwood forest skirts Douglas Lake; the 1.2-mile loop trail is moderately difficult and begins dramatically offering breath-taking views of the Great Smoky Mountains; limestone sinkholes provide a unique environment for amphibians and wildflowers; the trail features many ancient chestnut stumps. Trail is located on the Douglas Dam Reservation near the entrance to the headwater campground.
