Legacy Parks To Receive $200,000 RTP Grant For Collier Preserve

Legacy Parks Foundation was awarded a $200,000 Recreational Trails Program (RTP) grant from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation to fund the development of Collier Preserve in Powell. Collier Preserve is a 12-acre parcel of land that adjoins Beaver Creek, Emory Road and the Powell Library. Once completed, the natural area will create recreational opportunities in the Powell Community and will complement the larger Beaver Creek Watershed project that aims to protect and restore the naturally functioning ecosystem of the creek.

The RTP funds will be used to build natural surface walking trails, an ADA accessible parking and observation area, a kayak rest stop, interpretive signs and other park features to make Collier Preserve a wonderful amenity for north Knox County that will be preserved as a natural park and greenway along Beaver Creek Watershed.

The former homestead of Stella Moore Collier was donated to Legacy Parks by Dr. Bob Collier in December 2016.
